We all have things that need to be done around the house this summer. If you are struggling to make ends meet, think about employing your kids to get the work done at a much lower cost.
Lose the landscaper. Time to teach the kids how to mow the lawn again. I grew up doing this and while it was not my favorite thing to do — I got it done — at no cost to my family. Actually, a job well done gave me a tremendous feeling of satisfaction.
Plant a garden. What we grow we don’t have to buy — plus, home grown fruits and vegetables are healthier. Put the kids in charge. If they want, they can set up a farm stand at the end of the season and sell the fresh picked abundance to the neighbors who did not have the chance. Trust me, something like that would be way more welcomed than a lemonade stand!
Sell the old and gently used. Have the kids accumulate what they will not use again, price and tag for sale. Not only is this a great way to earn some extra cash, but it frees up clutter around the house.
