April is National Financial Literacy Month. A time near and dear to me and our mission to help kids get smart about money. There’s no better way to help teach kids about money concepts than to start by asking them what they already think about those topics. So to kick off this holy month of financial literacy, we asked kids what they thought about the lottery.
When the numbers get big, it seems everyone jumps on board and buys their ticket (or tickets) in hopes of a “big win.” But this get-rich-quick scheme isn’t a financial plan.
Listen in to this short podcast segment (about 5 minutes) where kids share their ideas about the lottery, and I share a few tips on how adults can discuss the topic with them.
It’s important for our kids understand financial success has less to do with “luck” and more to do with chipping away at reaching financial goals. That’s one step in the right financial direction!
