Gift

As my final post of this season, I am sharing with you a poem I wrote in 2011.  It reminds us all – myself included – that the best gift of all is the one we create and the time that we spend with those we love.

Cheers!

Susan

My thoughts on the real meaning of the holidays…

Maybe Christmas, she thought, shouldn’t just come from online and the mall
Maybe Christmas, perhaps, is more than just this after all?

Gifts can be given that are made from our hands
Gifts that are crafted from the odds and the ends

It is possible to make and to bake our way through –
Lending our wares to you and you too

I’m not sure gifts require pennies nickels and dimes
I think it just means we need to spend more of our time

So this Christmas, she thought, I will look deep into hearts
And start a tradition of giving gifts that starts

A season of giving that’s more than just stuff
But rather a season of giving filled with my love.

Merry Christmas, everyone!
