In the “Solutions” column this past Sunday in the Chicago Tribune, writer Wendy Donahue called my attention to a great cause. Through February 22, people are encouraged to take gently worn jeans to any Aeropostale store in the U.S. The store and DoSomething.org will make sure the jeans are donated to one of the 500 youth shelters that have been selected as partners.

According to Donahue’s story: “Right now, 1 in 3 homeless people in the U.S. are under the age of 18. See a PSA on this at TeensforJeans.com. I cannot think of a better use of my time this weekend. I will work my daughters closets — and mine — to gather what we can and get it off to the local store. Let me know if you do the same.
